What we do now?
The 1.2 MWp the rooftop solar project was initiated in collaboration with Voltares’ local partner GEOP (Georgian Products). This partnership has paved the way for forthcoming renewable energy projects of utility scale in Georgia. For Voltares, the implementation of this inaugural project was a good way to enter the market and to become familiar with the frame conditions in the Georgian energy market.
The annual production of about 1.5 GWh will be supplied to GEOP and its affiliate companies to cover their electricity demand. Three roofs with a total area of about 6,000 m2 are now covered with PV panels avoiding about 700 tons of CO2 annually. The project is benefiting from the net-metering scheme, that allows excess energy to be sent to the grid and getting reimbursed.
